Shrove Tuesday is also know as Pancake Day, or in other countries such as France and the USA, it is known as 'Mardi Gras' or 'Fat Tuesday'.
Pancake Day always takes place on a Tuesday in either February or March. It's the day before Ash Wednesday (the start of Lent).
Lent is a six week period leading up to Easter, it is one of the most important days of the year for many Christians around the world.
During Lent, people often give up on things that are bad for them, e.g. fast food.
The reason why we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is that, in Christian traditions, they were a way of using up all rich foods such as sugar, eggs and milk right before the start of Lent.
