How To Flame Your Orange Peel For A Cosmopolitan

An orange peel garnish makes a great addition to a cosmopolitan – adding both flavour and flare to the drink. In just a few simple steps, here’s how to flame an orange peel.

  1. First, use a knife to cut a piece of orange peel (roughly into the size of a 10p coin), making sure you include some of the white pith too for additional flavour.
  2. Next, gently hold the piece of peel between your thumb and forefinger, and use a lighter to carefully heat the piece of peel.

  3. Gently squeeze the orange peel so that its oils are released into your cocktail.

  4. Set alight to the peel very briefly, before rubbing it around the rim of the glass and placing it in the drink.
