Drinkstuff Charity of the Year

What is Drinkstuff’s Charity of the Year?

Each year Drinkstuff chooses a charity that we will then work with and fundraise for. We open nominations to our staff as we want to help charities that are close to our staff's hearts. This year we are once again working with Arthur Rank Hospice, a charity that means a lot to a number of our staff members.

While we fundraise throughout the year we thought it would be a great idea for Arthur Rank to take the spotlight for a week, and for us to highlight their incredible work. Throughout June we’ve been raising money through a number of staff challenges, as well as a ‘Wear it Green’ day and a cheeky game of bingo through the day.

Who is Arthur Rank Hospice?

Arthur Rank Hospice supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Their programmes are practical, holistic and tailored to the individual patient, family member or carer.

They use a wrap-around approach that may also involve spiritual and psychological support, counselling, complementary therapy, medical and pain outpatient clinics and bereavement support.

Their holistic approach is designed to improve patients’ quality of life and fulfil their end of life choices and our wrap-around support extends to their loved ones too.

How are they Funded?

Each year it costs the Arthur Rank Hospice £10.5million to operate our services, which are provided free of charge to those who need their vital end of life care and support in the local community. While £6.9million is secured from the NHS they still need help in ensuring they reach their annual goal, and that’s why we like to fundraise for them. The work they do is crucial for our local area and makes such a difference to so many people. Without support from others, they wouldn’t be able to achieve all that they do.
